Spring Fling a Huge Hit!

On Tuesday May 25th, 2004, Last Minute Party Girl author Erika Lenkert was our special guest for a not-quite Last Minute Spring Fling and Book Signing. Erika and our intrepid staff (and many, many guests) braved an unseasonably chilly evening in Boston as we celebrated Spring by partying in the street under tents in front of Koo de Kir. Books were signed, coktails were guzzled, food was eaten and our guests had the opportunity to talk one on one with Erika and learn tips to help even the most entertaining challenged how to throw a fabulous last-minute soiree AND keep your cool, even when the shitake hits the fan!

Paramount Restaurant Gets a new look from the Koo de Kir Design Studio.

A landmark Charles Street Restaurant, the Paramount Cafe underwent an interior redo this summer courtesty of the design studio at Koo de Kir. This famous restaurant fills a unique niche in the Boston dining scene. By day the casual and informal cafeteria style restaurant serves up some of the areas finest omelettes and burgers in a self-serve fast turn over style. In the evening, the Paramount is transformed into a casual bistro style restaurant with wine and beer and a full table service menu. Serving up great food to regulars like former Boston Mayor Kevin White and visitors like Jay Leno and Katie Couric, the Paramount is a beloved local fave.

Koo de Kir appears on Trading Spaces

This summer TLC Network's Trading Spaces filmed their 100 Grand Special outside of Boston. In July, the cast and crew decended upon Boston to source products for their rooms. We got a visit from Doug WIlson and Laurie Smith, both of whom purchased items for their swanky rooms. After close to 1 hour of filming, our national TV debut was edited down to less than 1 minute - but it was a solid "almost one minute"!

Summer 2003 Koo de Kir Has Moved!

July 10, 2003 -Yes, that’s right, in case you haven’t heard, we’ve moved. Not far though…just around the corner from our original Charles Street location into the space formerly know as the “back of the store”. For those of you who have visited – you know that the store is always a flurry of activity from the commotion of shipping Internet orders to our busy design studio and administrative offices – it never seems to stop around here. We made the decision to move things around, shake things up and give the store a new look. Our offices are re-locating, our design services are now front and center and fully integrated with the retail experience and you will enter the store at 65 Chestnut Street (just steps around the corner from 34 Charles) through our, late but arriving shortly, cool new door.

Finally, new improved shopping hours: Monday – Saturday 10-6pm.

Koo de Kir designs interior of new restaurant, Peking Tom’s Longtang Lounge.

Opening this spring in Boston’s Ladder District. The menu? Chinese classic’s like pupu platters and Peking duck with Chef Mark Orfaly’s (chef/co-owner of Boston’s Pigalle) signature. Share-style dishes will be served up in an Asian inspired Lounge environment complete With Mai Tai’s and other compelling cocktails.

Impressive Turnout for the Holiday Stroll and Open House

More of you than ever turned out for our 6th annual Holiday Open House. From 6-8 hundreds of shoppers strolled in and out Koo de Kir and probably more than 1,000 people enjoyed the festivities on Charles Street. A technical failure with the digital camera left us with only a few photos from early in the evening, take a look.

Emma Gardner

On Thursday November 7th, 2002 we welcomed the designer Emma Gardner to celebrate the launch of her new rug collection at Koo de Kir. Ms. Gardner was here to answer questions about the rugs, her designs and custom inquiries. Clients and friends from the design community sipped wine, snacked on hors d’oeuvres and enjoyed browsing through the collection with Emma and Koo de Kir owner Kristine Irving.

Interiors 2002

On Wednesday March 27, 2002 The Improper Bostonian Magazine sponsored a party to launch their Second Annual Interiors Issue at Koo de Kir. La Dolce Vita
Hot on the heels of their great success with Betty and Rita Go to Paris, photographer Michael Malyzsko and writer Judith Hughes authored the newest in the series: Betty and Rita, la Dolce Vita which was launched in the US at Koo de Kir in November 2001. Malyszko and Hughes were on hand, (in matching black leather no less), to sign copies of the book that was so new, we almost didn’t have copies for the party! A visual feast of photography and book design coupled with great short prose, the Betty & Rita books are Koo Essentials.
