Shades of Grey

 |
Longtime clients of Koo de Kir
know that we roll with the color brown - from our
chocolate walls to our business cards, we push brown like crack.
So what's up with grey?
Well, we have a new love - it's not a replacement for brown, because
brown (or as the French call it "le brun") is timeless.
Let's call
Grey the quiet older sister, the one you always sort of overlooked
-- you knew she was pretty, but suddenly one day she made you say, "Wow".
From vintage smokey grey wine glasses and decanters and steel grey
ceramic urns (in store only) to a select group of handbags,
a sexy grey
accessory
(from pale to charcoal) is the perfect compliment
to your
table, living space or wardrobe.
.
Michaelangelo
knew the secret wonders of grey. In fact, there is an entire section
of the Sistine Chapel painted in tones of gray (pr en
grisaille, the French
term for
tonal grey paintings), because he could most closely replicate the
look of drawing.
Do Not Forget Navy Blue
As much as we love neutrals we can't think of a better color to compliment grey
than navy blue. From Delpht tiles to ancient chinese pottery, Blue and White
are a timeless and classic combination. Every man looks
handsome in a crisp white shirt and a blue blazer and ladies, what
is more classic than the same combination on us?
In the highly
monochromatic world of Koo, we are still passionate about color.
Right now we are celebrating all things blue, white and
grey throughout the store. Look for the newest textile collection
from John Robshaw (available in store only), great little side
dishes
to compliment
all the
white we love so much, dinnerware from
IIttala, Taika -- a sexy overall pattern with a deep blue background
(see below for more information), along with all kinds of treasures,
mostly available in store only.
Go Ahead, Try it
Here are some of our favorite paint colors - try one
or three, we promise, you'll love them all.
All Benjamin Moore: Hales Navy, Himalayan Trek, Iron Gate,
Plymouth Rock and Ancient Ivory.

Young Collector Series
In July we quietly introduced two new artists as
part of our ongoing Young Collector Series. Art is a thoughtful,
not to mention collectible
gift and this, season we've got something for every budget.
Jefferson Hayman is a New York City based
photographer whose sublime, ethereal and painterly photographs appear
to be antique but are in fact modern images. Using the silver gelatin
print photography medium he creates images that are timeless, captured
with a delicate tonality that harks back to the highest traditions
of the graphic arts. Hayman prints each image for specific antique
frames further developing the harmony between image and frame for
a unified piece. Each image is printed in a signed limited edition
of 25. Check out his work now. Available in store only through
January 7th! Prices
start
at
$400.
Katie Rowley is young and talented with ink stained fingertips.

angry, weird, funny and cool. We are proud to offer prints of some
of her most special original drawings for sale in pre cut mats all
